Health benefits of wood:
Unlike plastic, wood doesn’t chemically react with acidic foods or transfer unwanted tastes to hot dishes.

Furthermore, ash wood boasts natural antimicrobial compounds, hindering bacteria growth. This makes ash wood spatulas more hygienic than plastic or silicone alternatives, thanks to their inherent properties that discourage harmful microorganisms.

Rest easy, knowing your kitchen utensil choice promotes a healthier cooking environment.

Kalina’s wooden Kitchen spatulas are expertly crafted by a charming, female-owned wood workshop in Latvia.

Wood combats climate change as a renewable resource, absorbing carbon dioxide. It’s biodegradable and requires less energy than plastic and metal alternatives. Embrace the environmental benefits of wood and make a positive impact on the planet!

Ash wood boasts exceptional strength and durability, making it an ideal choice for kitchen utensils. As a hardwood variety, ash can easily withstand the demands of daily culinary tasks. Unlike cheaper alternatives, this spatula is meticulously crafted with dried wood, ensuring its longevity.

Care Instructions & FAQ

After the first use, your spatula might develop a slightly rough appearance.

Don’t worry, you can easily address this by lightly sanding the spatula and applying a fresh layer of flaxseed or sunflower oil to the wood. This simple process will rejuvenate your spatula, leaving it smooth and shiny for an extended period.

We do not recommend washing wooden spatulas in the dishwasher. In the event that your spatula mistakenly ends up in the dishwasher, however, the protective oil layer may have been washed off. Consequently, it is highly recommended to re-oil the spatula with a food-grade oil.

Feel free to wash the spatula with mild soap and water to keep it clean and hygienic.

If you require a deep cleaning, immerse the spatula in boiling hot water for a few hours. This process will effectively swell the wood and liberate any trapped dirt or residue.

After completing the deep cleaning, ensure thorough drying of the spatula before applying a fresh coat of food-grade oil for optimal maintenance.

Wood readily absorbs color from colored foods. For this reason, we do not recommend leaving your spatula immersed in dishes. But fret not if discoloration occurs! With regular use, the top layer of the spatula will naturally wear off, restoring its original color.

To ensure the longevity and beauty of your natural wood products, it is essential to provide them with regular care.

As needed, typically when they appear dry or approximately every six months, remember to re-oil your spatula with either flaxseed or sunflower oil. This maintenance routine will help preserve the quality and appearance of your wooden utensil.

Our skilled artisans handcraft each spatula using individual pieces of wood, ensuring a unique and one-of-a-kind product. As a result, you may notice slight variations in size, shape, and color compared to the picture displayed. Rest assured, these differences highlight the craftsmanship and natural beauty of each item.
